Latest issue of Asian Ethnology published on its Scholastica platform
We are pleased to announce the publication of Asian Ethnology Vol. 84, No. 1, guest edited by Karen G. Ruffle: "Sensing Muḥarram in Asia: Shiʿi Poetics of Place and the Religious Sensorium."
This release also marks an important transition in the journal’s history:
- Asian Ethnology has moved to the Scholastica platform.
- Articles are now available in multiple digital formats (PDF, HTML, XML).
- ❌ We will no longer produce print editions, reflecting sustainability goals and the shift toward digital scholarship.
- We are introducing a continuous publication model for regular issues.
- All submissions will be handled through Scholastica’s peer-review system (with a US$10 submission fee, payable to Scholastica).
- The journal remains diamond open access: no article processing charges for authors, and free to read for all.
- ???? Our archives remain on this website for now. Over the coming months, all back issues will be migrated to Scholastica for unified, long-term access.
We thank our contributors for their outstanding scholarship and our readers for their continued support as we move into this new era of academic publishing.
